This product was conceptualized keeping in mind the rising ‘Maker Movement’. It is an attempt to create a synergy of co-creation between the maker and the designer and bluring away those roles. The end users may choose at which point in the birth of the product they want to participate at. The customer can decide whether to buy a digital design template and self fabricate, pick and choose a combination of pre-cut parts, or just buy a flat packed lamp and assemble it at home.
Taking into considerations the values of the ‘Maker Movement’, the wastage of material is kept to a minimum when making the Tesselamp. The parts are such that they tessellate when laid out on the surface they are to be cut from. The larger the volume of production is, the more viable it will be.
The dynamic play of light and shadows emanating from the Tesselamp are perfect for replicating the laid back atmosphere of a pub.
